Gayness…

I watched Jarhead the other day starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx. It’s a story about a marine and his experience in the gulf war, so I was expecting an action packed war flick. It turned out to be more of a drama, that oddly enough, also had some random funny scenes. And at the end of the movie, I asked myself, "ok, so what’s the point?"  You see, most of us are used to stories that have protagonists and antagonists and a grandiose quest for love or perhaps some highly choreographed butt-kicking involving people in leather outfits. And in the end, there is resolution. Love is found. The enemy is defeated. Paris Hilton dies. Whatever. This one didn’t seem to have any form of a clear story. The utter lack of a plot, however, was compensated for with scenes involving men in uniform, scenes involving men OUT of uniform horsing around with each other in communal showers, lots of cock jokes and Jake Gyllenhaal’s exposed ass. Apparently, Brokeback Mountain isn’t the only gay flick he’s in.

Oh, I totally got the point of “Jarhead” - Jake Gyllenhaal is HOT.

But honestly, I think Peter Sarsgaard is way hotter. Cos he looks like my boyfriend. Who also looks like Chicken Little. Hee.

Really? Peter Sarsgaard freaks me out. He reminds me of John Malkovich who also freaks me out. And besides, Chicken Little is so much cooler.

hi choobie and sam-ie, this is bannie! i think the reason why there wasn’t any plot at all is ’cause the movie is a mere illustration of a certain 20-year old US soldier’s experience during the gulf war a few years back. it’s trying to show what it’s really like when soldiers are out there “fighting for their country”.

but you don’t have to believe what im saying, ’cause i haven’t even watched the movie :) hee hee! but i got that info from this review on the movie i read this morning.

i mishyu guys! whenever you have a small get-together like dinner/coffee/movie/whatever, do invite me! really miss you guys especially you, sam, and joe!

Vannie!!! Or Bannie, as you now fondly call yourself. First of all, welcome to my blog. So nice to hear from you again! I absolutley appreciate that you took some time out to share your opinions with us. Yeah, I actually read a few reviews that said similar things. I like doing a little research before I write my blog entries, you know? Hehe. It puts the movie in perspective for me, though. So it’s actually more like a film adaptation of a diary… a journal… or perhaps a BLOG even! Makes sense. Although I’d still much rather watch something else. But, hey, if you wanna see Mr. Gyllenhaal’s glutes then go watch the movie! :)
We’ll make sure to invite you when we get together next. Prepare to have your ears talked off your head though… especially when Joe’s around. Hehe.
